QUESTION- Tom, can you do the de-farbing to my rifle? ANSWER- At this time, I can't completely defarb a musket due to not having the "cartouche stamps" that go on the stock. QUESTION-what is the story on the leaf sights on my Enfield? ANSWER-Well, I'm glad you asked. The introduction of the rifled musket and the Minie bullet increased the accuracy tremedously! The increase in accuracy was so much improved that for the first time a Government put a rear sight on the standard issue musket. The 3 and the 5 on the sight leaves denote the range. The sight is set for 100 yards by default. When the leaf marked three is raised, the sight is set for 300 yards. When both leaves are raised, the sight is set for 500 yards. |
